With deep sadness and immense respect, the South Eastman Rotary Club mourns the passing of Constable Kevin Wynn of the Steinbach RCMP, who left us peacefully in his sleep on July 10, 2025.
Constable Wynn was more than a law enforcement officer—he was a mentor, a role model, and a tireless advocate for youth empowerment. For over two decades, he served our community with integrity and dedication, bringing compassion and commitment to everything he did. His legacy, however, will forever be most strongly felt through his passion for and leadership in the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program.
Kevin was instrumental in bringing the D.A.R.E. program to local schools and was a foundational figure in its development and expansion across the Southeast. He believed in prevention through education and in giving young people the tools and confidence they need to make positive life choices.
In his own words from a 2015 interview:
“A lot of kids will never forget their D.A.R.E. officer. That police officer spent 10 days in their classroom and it’s a great relationship-building program. It’s a good program and the information the students receive is something they can use for a lifetime in helping them make good choices.”
Kevin saw his role not just as an officer, but as a guide and ally to students during some of the most formative years of their lives. Through countless classroom sessions, school visits, and community events, Constable Wynn connected with thousands of students—building trust, offering guidance, and creating lasting impact. His warm presence and genuine care made him a favourite among students, parents, and educators alike.
As a long-standing partner and primary funder of the D.A.R.E. program, the South Eastman Rotary Club had the honour of working alongside Kevin. He was more than a partner—he was a friend to our club, and an inspiration to all of us. His vision helped shape our youth initiatives and reminded us of the profound difference one individual can make when they lead with heart.
Constable Wynn’s passing is a profound loss. Yet his legacy lives on—in the young people he empowered, in the program he helped grow, and in the lives he touched with kindness, wisdom, and dedication.
We extend our deepest condolences to Kevin’s family, friends, and RCMP colleagues. Thank you, Kevin, for your service, your compassion, and your unwavering belief in the potential of every child. Your work and your spirit will never be forgotten.
